Now the government of Nepal has arranged that all cases related to cyber crime will be heard by the district court of the respective district.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Tuesday has decided to give all district courts the authority to initiate proceedings and make decisions for offenses as mentioned in paragraph 9 of Article 60 of the Electronic Transactions Act AN 2063.
Spokesperson of the Government of Nepal and Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said that this decision was passed on the proposal of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
She said that this decision has been made with the aim of making it easier for the general public to deal with cyber crime cases by the district court concerned.
Prior to this, there was a provision to hear cases related to cyber crime only by the Kathmandu District Court. Due to this, common people outside the valley had to come to Kathmandu to work on cyber crime cases. Now this constraint will be removed.
